BiPAP, VPAP, & Bi-Level Machines
Using a CPAP machine is the common treatment for people who suffer from sleep apnea. However, there are some instances when a person might need a different type of unit to properly handle their symptoms and feel comfortable when sleeping. BiPAPand VPAP machines offer outstanding alternatives to traditional CPAP machines, and Sherman Oaks Medical Supplies is your best choices for the leading models at low prices.
Traditional CPAP machines treat sleep apnea by delivering a steady stream of air into a person’s airways via a mask. This is designed to help keep a person’s throat from constricting while they are sleeping, a condition which causes snoring and can even lead to a person completely stopping their breath.

By contrast, Bi-Level machines deliver air at two distinct pressure levels. A higher level of pressure is delivered when a person is inhaling than when a person exhales. Many people find that BiPAP machines are more effective in treating their sleep apnea and allow them to get to sleep more comfortably. BiPAP machines are also commonly used for people with respiratory conditions such as COPD. In these instances, BiPAP machines help to expel the carbon dioxide that people breathe out.
VPAP machines are similar to BiLevel machines as they also deliver a higher volume of air when a person inhales. However, these units are even more advanced and use technology to track a person’s breathing patterns. Through this, the machine is able to regulate the level of pressure delivered in a precise manner.
While both BiPAP and VPAP machines are typically more expensive than CPAP units, buying a machine here makes them much more affordable. Check out our inventory of units from the leading manufacturers and call us or stop by our Los Angeles-area showroom if you have any questions.
